My pal from Boston, Pat McCormick, has been going to Vinalhaven, an island off the coast of Maine, for about 20 years. The families of friends of his from high school have homes there. He's been having birthday get-together's there for quite a while, and this one was also to be his going away party. He and his wife Babette are moving to Australia.

Sabine had mentioned the get-together to me a few months prior, and she, Deb and I made a plan to ride up there together, camping in New Hampshire on the way.

Coffee and oatmeal.
We stopped along the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire. Not sure which state park it was, though.

The Kancamagus. Very nice road cutting east to west in New Hampshire.

Waiting for the ferry to Vinalhaven, in Rockland, Maine.

On the ferry with Gerald (I think), who was instrumental in getting all three bikes on board.

There were a bunch of these giant sail boats in the harbor, out on sightseeing trips.

Early morning mist through the trees.

Continuously beautiful views.

The GS round up. There were about 7 GS riders on the island. Patrick's 1150GS is on the left.

Lobster rolls and trashy magazines on the pier. Babette is on the left.
