Deb and Babette busting open some lobsters for the lobster linguini. Yum!
Patrick's actual birthday party was at the home of the Reynolds family. This is in their kitchen.

The view from the front porch.

The Reynolds house.

Mmm... meat! The food at the party was fantastic. Many great chefs were on hand.

Another GS round-up.

The sun goes down on a great party. Many great people were there, some I had known in Boston, and some I had just met.

There were a lot of children there, which added to the festive air.

Mmmm... digging in.

I just love a nice sunset, however cliche it is.

Sabine enjoying a cup the next morning.

I always travel with my coffee setup and stove, and it usually draws a crowd. Me, Sabine, Josh, Amy and Sarah.

I love milk in my coffee, so thank god for Lil' Milk. Pasteurized to the max, before being opened it can keep for up to a month. It's name became my nickname for the rest of the trip. Not sure how much I like being called Lil' Milk...

The swimming quarry.

Amy, whose family and her also have homes on the island, took Seth, Deb and I on a tour of some small islands around Vinalhaven. It was an overcast and drizzly day, but what a great and magical place, as you'll see from the next few photos.

On the open sea, matey.

Prancing through the moss and pine.

Amy had seen this chair months ago in a completely different part of the island. We rounded a bend and there it was, lashed to a makeshift raft.

The wind-and-wave lashed rocks were amazingly beautiful.

Some kids had also made a little beach shack out of driftwood in this cove.

Investigating the beach shack.

Mmm... Someone left some Vodka.

Found buoys tied to the top of the beach shack.

Seth practicing his street-funk dance moves.

Back at Amy's house. Patrick flaps his wings, Alex makes a getaway.

In Amy's house, some of her gorgeous artwork hangs on the walls.

Seth.

Sean and daughter Emma.

Sabine and Alex chat, while Emma zips around.

The next day, back on the ferry, and back to New York.

What a great trip it was. Met some great new people, reconnected with some people from the past, at some delicious food, and did some great exploring. A truly magical place.
