I've been thinking of getting a BMW "GS" for a while, and finally found one in the year range I was looking for. It was also on the east coast, saving me the hassle of having to ship or pick the thing up.
It's in great shape, with only 38k miles. It was well cared for, and doesn't seem to have been beaten up off road. It also came with all of its service records, beginning with the break-in service at 1k. Nice.

Even though it was in great shape when it showed up, I just had to get into it. It came with some chrome Fiamm horns on it that were just plain weak, and looked stupid. So I put the original horn back on, which the bike came with luckily. I also wanted to get myself familiar with the bike.
Note the brand new Ohlins shock on back.

At some point there must have been a battery issue because the battery box was all corroded and rusty. I pulled it out and bead-blasted, then painted it. I also touched up, with extender, some of the frame near the battery box that had corroded and rusted.
