I've been working on this restoration since the fall of 2003. It started out as a clean up and repaint, and has turned into a total frame-up cosmetic restoration.

The bike belongs to Lisa, the wife of my friend Matt. It sat in their barn in Michigan for a few years and became rather unsightly. Fortunately there are only 40k miles on it, and Matt has already had the top-end redone. Therefore I don't have to get into the engine and transmission.

I'm trying to get a photo of it in its original condition, for comparison.

The first few photos are from a disposable camera, and are rather poor quality. The others are from my digital and are a little blurry. I'll work it out soon.

Frame.
Primed and ready for painting.

Engine with all aluminum oxidization removed.

Engine put back into the newly painted frame.

The bike, in this photo, is quite a bit further along than in the photo above.
New Ikon shocks are mounted; headlight bucket has been repainted; forks rebuilt; new fork gaitors; bar-end turn signals; Alberts headlight bucket-mounted mirrors; stainless steel bolt kit; lots of new rubber pieces.

Different angle.

Engine closeup. Note that the engine id badge has been repainted. You see a lot of bikes with no paint left on these.

Sub-frame and swing arm.
Everything nice and repainted. Even the original air pump, which is there just for show.

The carburetor cleaned up quite nicely.

Exhaust in place and a new starter/directional switch installed.

Matt bought this set of OEM /6 exhaust from his friend Eric, who took it off of his /6 when almost new. Flawless.

Piece-by-piece, it's coming together.
